About the Annual Statistics Survey
The Annual Statistics Survey is an ongoing data collection effort conducted by ASTC. Over the last 50 years, this survey has existed as a comparative study on the science center and museum field, aimed at providing an understanding of the structure, functions, and impacts of science engagement organizations around the world.
Each year, data is collected from science centers, museums, and other informal science education organizations regarding their operations over the most recently completed fiscal year and covers a wide range of statistics related to workforce, facilities, visitor attendance, and finances, as well as rotating data on field-wide issues.
Through this survey, organizations can benchmark their own operations against key data points, gaining valuable insights into visitor demographics, engagement strategies, financial health, and more. Join science engagement organizations from around the world in contributing to the 2024 Annual Statistics Survey!
This year, for the 2024 Annual Statistics Survey, ASTC is joined in partnership with Ecsite, the European network of science engagement organisations; CASC, the Canadian network of science engagement organisations; and ASPAC, the Asia-Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres.
Data collection for the 2024 Annual Statistics Survey is currently underway; the deadline for submissions is Friday, March 21. The final reports for this year’s survey will be made available in early-October.
All Science Center and Museum members of ASTC, as well as all members of Ecsite, CASC, and Planet members of ASPAC, are eligible to participate in the survey. A dedicated annual survey for ASTC’s Allied members is currently being developed and is set to launch later this year.
